Could you tell us about yourself and your educational background?

I’m Ali Sher. I’m a professional pop singer, musician. I have released three music albums so far. I have done masters in business and studied music as well.

What got you into music?

My passion and love for music got me into it.

What are your main inspirations as far as music is related?

My passion and love for music got me into it.

Please tell us about your approach and philosophy to music.

To me music is a mode of expression and you can change people’s minds through it, it’s a natural thing and I find it everywhere, whereas songs are manmade, melody, beat and tempo are the basic elements of music.

Your music album ‘Beetay Pal’ has just been released. What do you feel the album represents?

My new album is a combination of live and electronic music, it truly represents my growth in music and whatever I have learned over the past 5 years.

What inspired you to make this album?

My appetite for music always keeps me doing more and that is the driving force behind my every album.

If you were not a musician what would you have been?

I have never really thought of going into another field, once a musician always a musician, it comes naturally to me.

What instruments do you play?

I play keyboards.

Do you prefer singing in a specific language?

I sing in Urdu and Punjabi.

Is there a difference between an Urdu and Punjabi composition it terms of song writing, structure and rhythm?

Both Urdu and Punjabi have their own feel and dialect hence the music and structure should be made accordingly.

What was the mat been the most defining point in your music career thus far?

My last album “Beetay Pal” has been the most defining point in my music career as of yet.

Do you believe music videos to be an essential part of album promotion and sales?

Music videos are very important for the promotion of the songs, specially now a days, because the song does not get noticed without it.


Apart from Made in Pakistan and Kashf, which other productions have you composed music for? Any sitcoms, serial and dramas?

I have composed and arranged music for Hadiqa Kiani’s 2nd album “Roshni” including the title track, Dr aur Billa,logo for Javed Sheikh’s productions, PTV serial ”Na Jane Kyun” telefilm “14 Din”, sitcoms like “Bas Yunhi” “Ye tau hona he tha” and “Life” plus “Made in Pakistan, the documentary”.

What do you believe is the biggest challenge faced by the music industry in Pakistan today?

I believe security and piracy are the biggest problem faced by Pakistani Music industry.

What can we expect from you in future?

Inshallah more music, more albums and concerts.
